GLASGOW REIKI

The exact origins  of Reiki are not entirely clear.

Reiki is thought to have been practised for thousands of years in the East. It is thought to have became lost and to have been rediscovered at the end of the 19th Century by Dr.Mikao Usui of Japan after research into Buddhist documents on healing. Dr Usui passed on his method of attuning others into the Reiki energy  as well as symbols to be used by Reiki Practitioners and Masters. (The section on Reiki training explains about different levels of Reiki e.g. Practitioners and Masters.)

R eiki is changing and evolving and while honouring the origins of Reiki we can respect that Reiki can change as the world changes. Some Reiki schools continue to follow Dr. Usui’s original teachings but others have developed and changed his approach.  Examples of these are Karuna reiki, or, Tibetan reiki.  These other types of reiki are often based on the original usui reiki and, add new ideas, different attunements and symbols

Further information on different types of reiki can be found on the books and websites mentioned in the books/links section

Reiki can be practised by anyone after attunement by a master. (See section on Reiki training)
