GLASGOW REIKI

What is Reiki ? Simply, Reiki is a hands on healing technique. We are all familiar with this - When children fall parents will touch or kiss it better.

Reiki translates from Japanese as the  “universal life force” or “universally guided energy”. The concept of such energy is far from our 21st century scientific minds although common in ancient cultures, particularily in the East where for example, it is known as “ki” in Japan, “chi”in China and, “prana” in  India. Some complementary therapies e.g Reiki, acupuncture, Bowen Technique, and reflexology, work with energy

In Reiki, the practitioner channels the energy to allow the energy to flow unobstructed around the receivers’ body, stimulating the body’s own healing potential.  The benefits of Reiki work on many levels, on the whole person, body, mind and spirit resulting for some in increased feelings of relaxation and wellbeing or, personal growth and discovery.

Reiki energy goes where it is needed most, thus practitioners do not suggest that Reiki can “cure” a particular ailment.

Reiki is a complementary therapy and it can be used with other complementary therapies or with orthodox medicine. Reiki practicioners always recommend seeing a medical practicioner for diagnosis and treatment of medical problems. Receiving Reiki in itself is relaxing as it is necessary to be still and try to clear the mind. Also, the Reiki Principles referred to later promote relaxation.

Quality and Standards of Practice

In common with many other complementary therapies, Reiki in Scotland is not currently regulated however this is likely to change in the near future as complementary medicine is increasingly regulated. The Reiki Federation is working towards Voluntary Self Regulation and creation of The Register of Reiki Practitioners through The Reiki Regulatory Working Group (RRWG)
